I AM
The task was to design a soundscape in order to potray oneself?
These kinds of implications trigger you to present an enhanced version of yourself, the dream of the better version of yourself where your hopes, lifegoals, wishes and purpose in life <fd intertwined with a harsh reality-check:
lack of concentration, lack of empowerment, lack of discipline, - all of those hyped virtues of the contemporary man (woman).
This is the era when commercialized forms of spirituality melds into start-up spirit and rhetoric.
Meanwhile reaching out to qualities mentioned earlier, - many of us dwells in deep and amongst anxiety and exhaustion.
Many people strive and try to boost their stamina, drive and wellbeing through endless variety of New Age methods from 2020´s that easily can push the button towards narcissism and self-centrism. Whilst commercialized spirituality, this work tries to inhale-exhale “I am” mantra that originates from Anthroposophical dogma(??) and rituals.
Whereas today “I am “is a form of mantra of individuality manifested throughout multiple social media platforms in a form of status posts and polished profile as a process of making- of-chosen- alter egos in this eccentric and egoistic interplay of being, -especially as an artist and creative worker and -being.
At this work, my self-observation of my own neurotic behavior escalates in a form of chaos instead of silence and serene peace of mind. When I need to stop and think, - I pick up the phone and via WhatsApp start endless and somewhat pointless discussions with my fellow-anxious-human-friends. Where the lates trend has been to make small audio recordings, this enabling the form of self-absorbed monologue instead of interactive dialogue to take place in undisrupted manner. You force the receiver to listen you at the other end no matter the time and place. And vice versa.
I decided to download those audio clips from that chat platform with certain individuals who we all with waste time on anxiety caused by our situation, place and time in a society which might favor other type of characteristics to certain gender, race, age and status...........#lackofselconfidence #lackofsafespace #lackofvoice
