︎“Let´s talk about love." Cupid-BOT is a living robot-Amor, who moves around in the real world and can be remotely controlled from the exhibition hall. It can be moved left, right and forward, and it can be pushed to ask a stranger a question about love by only a press of a button.

The controller, a volunteer from the audience, is able to get into comfortable and distanced “place” both in psychological and physical dimensional level while sitting behind the monitor. Having a power of making interventions by using a live human-being, instead of a game character, creates a certain tension and dimension “in-between” situation. The audience is confronted with the question patterns about love, questions that often avoided.

In a contemporary society in-depth experiences such as love are often lost in a noise. In Finnish culture the terminology fand the habit of expressing feelings towards to loved ones is very limited. This performance aims to challenge this issue by challenging the audience at the very individual level. “Let´s Love” performance challenges the interviewees and the controller to practice “love” towards others and themselves.

The performance is also observing the various forms of power relationship love is experienced in. Also on being under surveillance, beyond own control, via multiple screens, monitors and cameras streaming. Filming of the event is made evident for the interviewee by showing clearly the go pro on Cupid-BOT’s head and by having the second camera person following the discussion tightly with a mobile phone camera.

The performance was planned and conducted at a 2-week multidisciplinary workshop at Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Helsinki.
